Genting Highlands, 11th March 2019 – Today Resorts World Genting announced the winners for the recent Chinese New Year best decorated food trucks and booth competition.  There were 40 food trucks dressed up in CNY decorations at the Goh Tong Walk from 5th to 19th February and two took home the top prizes.

Angela Hoe, Vice President of Retail & Tenancy at Resorts World Genting said, “We have always wanted Resorts World Genting to be the first destination in mind for Malaysian travellers. Every major school holidays and festivity, we will come up with new ideas to captivate visitors from Malaysia and the neighbouring countries to visit us. This recent Chinese New Year, we have introduced The Food Truck Park as one of the attractions to complement the many events and activities that we have up here at the resort and I am pleased to say that it was very well received by our visitors.”

A lot of hard work was put into adding to the festive atmosphere, with food trucks and booths competing to win the ‘Best CNY Decoration Contest’. The food trucks were lined up along the outdoor area offering some of Malaysia’s best food truck fare. Here, visitors could escape the heat of the city and breathe in the cool breeze of the mountain whilst they enjoyed a bite or two.

Amongst the other trucks, ‘Ice Nami’ food truck made sure no visitor said no to their ice creams with their eye-catching setup. A massive model of an ice-cream cone was creatively topped with a miniature version of the lion head used in lion dances. The truck was festooned with bright pink cherry blossoms that gave the rose-coloured truck a delicate touch.

Khairul Izwan from the stall who received RM20,000 in cash said, “This is our first time at Resorts World Genting and also our first time decorating our truck to the CNY Theme. We were very excited and wanted to be the best.  We spent over RM2000 to set up the decoration and attracted quite a lot of customers to the stall. Many came to take pictures and also voted us as the best decorated food truck.”

At the Allie the Elephant Courtyard on Level G of SkyAvenue and at the Hilltop Bazaar on Level 1 of SkyAvenue, 42 CNY booths were decorated in hues of red and gold. Quirky modern pieces and good luck charms were installed to create a highly ‘Instagram-mable’ space. Here, guests could encounter design curios, fashionable collectibles and appetising nibbles.

Winning the stalls category for the best decoration are Tao Hao Ching and Chew Soon How of the ‘De Artoo’ booth. They walked away as winners of RM15,000 in cash. Hao Ching said, “Our decoration was inspired by ancient Chinese wooden chests.  We took one month to design and to produce the props.  We are pleased to have won this prize.” ‘De Artoo’ booth hailed from Jonker Walk, Malacca that provides high-definition temporary tattoos.
