Question… Have you ever noticed how music has this rather cheeky habit of sneaking into your heart?
One moment you’re sitting there, arms folded, convinced you’re only staying for “a few songs”. The next, you’re tapping your feet, grinning like you’ve just won the lottery, and wondering why everyone isn’t singing in four-part harmony all the time. That is exactly the sort of magic waiting at the 2nd Selangor Choral Festival.
Jointly organised by the Klang Hokkien Association Women’s Choir, and Lollapalooza Singers, this is much more than an evening concert. It is a celebration of voices, friendships, and that wonderfully mysterious force that happens when dozens of people inhale together and somehow produce something that can make the hairs on your arms stand to attention.
Behind the scenes, singers will be taking part in a Choral Development Camp filled with workshops, musical exchanges, shared laughter, and enough harmonies to convince the walls that they should probably join in too. It is where voices are polished, confidence grows, and complete strangers often leave as lifelong friends.
Then comes the concert. This year, The Philharmonic Society of Selangor takes the stage as the Festival Choir, bringing along some well-loved favourites that have delighted audiences time and time again. If applause could be bottled, they would probably need a forklift to carry it all away.
See you there at the show.
Whether you’re a seasoned choir enthusiast, someone who simply loves live music, or you’re just looking for an evening that feeds the soul instead of your social media feed, you’ll find a warm welcome waiting.
Here’s the best part… Admission is completely free. That’s right. No tickets to buy. No hidden catches. Just wonderful music, joyful voices, and an evening that might leave you humming all the way home, much to the amusement of everyone else in the car.
So, come along. Bring your family, your friends, and grab that neighbour who insists they “don’t really like choirs” and drag them over. Who knows? They may well leave singing louder than everyone else.
