During the launching of the hotel; invited guests included 50 media personnel and travel agents from Singapore and Malaysia, VIP guests including President & CEO Archipelago International – John M. Flood, General Manager – Yanuwar Dedy Setyawan, Vice President Business Development Archipelago International – Norbert Vas, Department of Tourism and Culture – Puan Koestrinie, and Executive Director of the Batam Tourism Board – Edi Sutrisno.

The launch started with the beating of the kompang (traditional musical instrument like a tambourine minus the cymbals), followed with a martial arts demonstration, before guests were ushered into the hotel. Welcome drinks were offered to all guests before the launching of favehotel Nagoya Batam continued.
The launching continued with speeches by General Manager Pak (Mr) Dedy Setyawan. Next was Executive Director of the Batam Tourism Board – Pak (Mr) Edi Sutrisno who thank all media, travel agents, and guests for coming not just to Batam, but to favehotel as well. Next to take the stage was Ibu (Madam) Koestrinie who represented the Department of Tourism and Culture; congratulated favehotel on the launch and also all involved in the launching.

She also talked a bit about some of the things that the Department of Tourism and Culture has done since the opening of borders. According to Ibu Koestrinie, the number of visitors have fallen greatly since the pandemic but thanks to the efforts of industry players which includes hotels, resorts, travel agents, media, and Batam Tourism Board; the number of visitors have risen greatly since May 2022.

Next on stage was Mr Norbert Vas, the Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Archipelago International in Indonesia. He thanked the Pak (Mr) Wie Meng, the owner of the hotel for trusting his team with the business or operating the hotel since the first time they worked together a little more than 5 years ago with their first hotel. Now they have four hotels.
He shared that one of the main reasons the business grew so well is because Pak Wie Meng allowed them (Archipelago International) to manage the operations independently, while he (Pak Wie Meng) manage the big business and take their advice very seriously. He also thanked Pak Wie Meng’s son for being a very nice COO (Child of Owner) who has been cooperative and supportive of the team.

Apart from the above, Mr Norbert Vas also thanked his team at Archipelago International for the good that they have done, Pak (Mr) Dedy Setyawan the General Manager of favehotel, Pak (Mr) Edi Sutrisno for the hard work and effort put into promoting Batam, and also all the media and travel agents from Singapore and Malaysia for attending the launch.

The launching of the hotel continued with traditional dances performed by skilled traditional dancers who danced with certain offerings in hand that were handed over to the VIPs at the event. A cake cutting ceremony by Pak (Mr) Wie Meng followed; marking the launch of favehotel Nagoya Batam.
